University of California, San Francisco's Global Health program is motivated to free the world from malaria. They have created the Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI) who are focused on malaria eradication through regional elimination. They have developed innovative, strategic, and evidence-based solutions for countries and regions to eliminate malaria. Join us as we hear from the Associate Director of Epidemiology, Hugh Sturrock, as he talks to us about their efforts, how they use technology in the eradication process, and how this could be helpful in Rotary's efforts to eliminate malaria. Wakami is a social system that connects rural communities to global markets in order to generate income and transform cycles of poverty to cycles of prosperity.
The current goal at Wakami is to help empower at least 5,000 Guatemalan artisans. Through this process, they will access the means to educate their children and armed with this education, those children will be able to thrive and create a better life for the next generation—and so on. To learn more about this amazing organization, join us at our upcoming meeting and hear more about it from Adam Poissant.

Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has given more than 75,000 young people a safe place to rebuild their lives. They provide housing, education and employment training, and health and wellness support to help these young people get off the street for good.
We will be cooking and serving food at one of Larkin Streets houses to a group of homeless young people. More details to come!

In 2009, he founded NEPAL FREED (Foundation for Rural Educational and Economic Development) so that he could help the children of his village and in the surrounding villages with educational opportunities.
