Pollinator Partnership

Kelly Bills has been dedicated to pollinator conservation for a decade. Her focus is on large-scale habitat projects, plant-pollinator interactions, and agricultural and industry engagement. Kelly holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She has also received a Master’s of Science in Environmental Management (Ecology Concentration) from the University of San Francisco. Her background in ecology, conservation, and culture has propelled her career in the non-profit sector. Prior to Pollinator Partnership (P2), Kelly worked at another Bay Area-based environmental non-profit called Conservacion Patagonica (CP). Kelly manages the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign (NAPPC), National Pollinator Week, www.pollinator.org, and pollinator grants and scholarships. Kelly serves on the Board of Directors of Pollinator Partnership Canada, the Advisory Committee of the Monarch Joint Venture, and the Steering Committee for PlantAgents. |

Jim Carriere joined Rotary International in 2004, and is a Past President of the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor. He has served Rotary District 5150 as the ShelterBox Chair, Area Membership Chair, Assistant Governor, District Administrator, and on the Grants Stewardship Committee. Jim is a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation and a nineteen-year member of the Paul Harris Society. Jim recently transferred his membership to the Rotary Club of Novato. Jim learned of the ShelterBox program in 2007 at the Rotary International Convention in Salt Lake City. He immediately agreed to become an ambassador and has done presentations to Rotary Clubs and other groups throughout the Western United States. Jim was elected to the ShelterBox USA Board of Directors in 2010 serving as the organization’s Chairman in 2017 and 2018. Though his Board service has come to an end, Jim continues to serve on the SBUSA Finance and Audit Committee and chairs the SBUSA Ambassador’s Council. Professionally, Jim is a Senior Vice President with First Federal Savings of San Rafael, overseeing Operations, Information Technology, Compliance, and Retail Banking. Jim and his wife Nancy live Oakland, CA, and their son Joseph is in his residency (4th year) at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. |

The meeting location will be outside of Beach Chalet at 1000 Great Hwy, where the Rotary Club of Chinatown is meeting.

Friends of Strawberry Hill - Butterfly Habitat Restoration Project Saturday, Oct 14, 2023, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT We will be joining Friends of Strawberry Hill to participate in their twice-monthly habitat restoration. They remove invasive weeds, and put in plant species that Swallowtails and other butterflies need to thrive. All instruction and needed tools will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Dress in layeres, and bring a bottle of water. If you're sensitive to sun, don't forget your sunscreen and hat! We will meet at the Stow Lake Boat House. Members and prospective members are invited to join us afterward for an ice cream social! RSVP to Club President Karen Irwin for details. |

After our project doing butterfly habitat restoration in Golden Gate Park, we will have a pizza party/ice cream tasting game in the beautiful outdoor patio of a former club member in the Outer Sunset. Get ready to guess the flavors of a sampling of 5 unique and exotic ice creams. The person who guesses the most flavors wins a pint! Please RSVP by October 9. This event is for members and prospective members. Members are encourage to bring a friend who may be interested in our club.
