Happy 2020! It's a New Year!

The New Year is a time of excitement and reflection. We're reflecting on the past year while making resolutions for the upcoming year.  Since the Rotary year differs from a calendar year, we get to celebrate the New Year twice.  Now that we are halfway through this Rotary year, it's time to reflect on what's happened so far in our amazing club.  I can't wait to see what will happen in the next half! See you in 2020!

Community Service is what brings us all to Rotary. We prepared and cooked dinner for at-risk youth at Larkin Street Youth Services. Two separate meals have been provided thus far with more scheduled starting in February.  In the past Rotary year, our Foundation supported this organization further by allocating $4000 for kitchen updates.

We helped provide Turkey Dinners to families in need in the San Francisco area by partnering with the SF West & SF Bayview Clubs and donated $500 towards the cost of meals. We also had members help with the delivery of these meals.

At our Holiday Party, we collected new, unwrapped toys for the San Francisco Fire Toy Program. Our members have brought these toys each year in support of the toy drive. This program relies strictly on donations and has been around since 1949.

The club did our bi-annual project, One Hard Thing, with Next Village Seniors. Next Village helps the elderly age in place, with dignity. This is one of our signature projects that we've done from the start. We flip mattresses, change smoke detector batteries, and many other things.

We co-sponsored the newly chartered Rotaract of San Francisco Club in partnership with the Rotary Club of San Francisco.  This has been in the works since the previous year, but the club finally chartered in July.

Along with the Interact Club we co-sponsor with the Rotary Club of Fisherman's Wharf, we welcomed 40 Rotary Youth Exchange students from 20 different countries. These students are here through the efforts of WESSEX, which was formed by seven different Rotary districts.

We changed our meetings to provide more flexibility to members by only meeting the 2nd & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.  We replaced the 1st Wednesday of the month with our Board of Directors meetings, which are open to all to attend.
Our Board of Directors worked hard to update our bylaws in conjunction with us adopting the Constitution of Rotary International last year.
