After learning of the sudden death last year of our friend and former member, SF Evening Rotary earmarked funds in our foundation for a project to honor the life & memory of Tara Labang. Tara was always so proud of her time in Rotary and participated in many service projects with our club. If you had the privilege of knowing Tara, she had that lovable, spunky personality and was known for her big beaming chestshire cat grin. By profession, Tara was a nurse and then went to grad school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. So to honor our friend, we used the earmarked funds this year to make the holidays a little brighter for all 30 female residents at Gum Moon. We purchased for each resident $25 Walgreens gift cards, new packages of socks, a pair of house slippers, a keychain personal safety alarm, soap, and other items. And the $800 in District funds from the 4 clubs was donated back to our foundation so we can repeat this event next year.
